Dr. Shruti Sharma is Portfolio Manager at the Clean Energy Business Innovation Portal (CEBIP) where she leads programs spanning the clean energy innovation ecosystem facilitating technology commercialization across the US and globally. Utilizing cross-disciplinary expertise in sciences, strategic advising and program design, Dr. Sharma has a special focus on building strong, inclusive companies and programs to tackle climate change. Dr. Sharma manages CEBIP’s portfolio startups coaching and mentoring founders, developing commercialization, funding and scale-up roadmaps and facilitates critical network introductions. Dr. Sharma leads CEBIP’s solution-driven CETX program bridging the lab-to-market commercialization gap through entrepreneurial training, technology scouting and technology offices-corporate partnerships. Dr. Sharma has played a pivotal role in catalyzing CEBIP’s growth – leading new programs, initiatives, and partnerships.
Previously, as Program Manager for the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC), a NYS Center of Excellence, Dr. Sharma led industry-university translational research collaboration development project management, shared materials characterization user facilities and AERTC’s business development. Her efforts lead to awarded grants from the National Science Foundation, sponsored industry projects and the Presidential mini-grant for Departmental Diversity Initiative.
Driven by a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), Dr. Sharma is a dedicated advocate for improving diversity in STEM climate careers including clean energy and climate tech. She actively engages in outreach initiatives and program development aimed at dismantling barriers and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups in the scientific community. Dr. Sharma has been recognized for her advocacy for DE&I and advancement of women in science including the Diversity in Business Award. She holds a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stony Brook University and a B.Tech, with Honors in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB), India.
